BARIG Full Board II/2023 – Getting Ready for UEFA EURO 2024
What challenges and developments will the year 2024 bring for the aviation industry – especially with regard to upcoming major events such as the UEFA European Football Championship in Germany in 2024? How can we strengthen operational performance at airports and mitigate the labor shortage? These topics were discussed with the airline community and other industry partners at the last BARIG Full Board on December 13, 2023, at the Maritim Hotel Frankfurt.
Shortly before the end of the year, numerous representatives of the more than 100 German and international member airlines came together to get an update on the current status of preparations for the coming year. Particularly, the UEFA EURO 2024 is expected to lead to a higher demand for intermodal transportation. Accordingly, there will be an increase in passenger volumes—especially in international air traffic—at the beginning of the summer travel season 2024.
In two exciting round tables, various players from the mobility and HR sectors discussed how traffic flows can be coordinated efficiently and how more staff can be recruited in order to optimize handling processes and to make travel chains run as smoothly and safely as possible. Additionally, the BARIG community used the networking breaks intensively to exchange ideas on these as well as other topics.
